Is This Any Way to Run an Election? Radio Commentator, Mark Plotkin to discuss a range of local political issues from the defunct Democratic primary to the elusive home rule issue at CPCA’s Tuesday, December 16 Meeting. Note, this will be an evening event at Cleveland Park Library at Connecticut and Newark, NW. Coffee at 6:30 pm. Meeting starts promptly at 6:45 pm.
The City Council Listened when CPCA and other citizens groups and ANCs urged them not to diminish the role of the public in awarding liquor licenses. In an unusual show of collective strength, an alliance of groups was formed to make the point. Voluntary agreements will continue to be a tool that residents and neighborhood bars and taverns can use to minimize the impact of late hour noise, parking, trash and other related uses.
Will the National Child Research Center’s Expansion Plan Be Approved? After many hearings, well attended by Cleveland Park neighbors, including CPCA, ready to testify on both sides of the issue, the Board of Zoning Adjustment finally heard the last witness. Last February, CPCA members heard an extensive debate on the issue and voted to oppose the expansion as inappropriate for the location. The Board’s decision is expected on January 6, 2004
